Best of June 2013

Another month has come and gone! My schedule is still a little messed up, but I promise I'll figure it out soon! Haha. Here are some highlights of the past month...

*Went to the Aquarium of the Pacific! I had never been and it was so cool!

*Saw a production of "The Intergalactic Nemesis" in Costa Mesa...strange but kinda cool!

*Celebrated our four-year wedding anniversary on the 13th!

*Heard my beautiful and talented friend Teryn sing at a little wine bar...she's getting married in October  and I'm so excited for her!

*Started watching my summer movies! Beach Blanket Bingo, Gidget Goes Hawaiian, Stand By Me, etc.! I love seasonal movie-watching!

*Saw E.T. on the big screen! I've been to my fair share of special movie screenings, but this one was really special. I just love this movie.

*Celebrated my friend Robert's birthday with lunch at Slater's 50/50. I had this sun-dried tomato and pesto mac and cheese that was amaaaaazing!

*Threw a Disney Pajama Party! Guests came in pajamas (some brought stuffed animals!) and we watched Disney movies while eating a variety of breakfast foods (pancakes, little spinach-egg-and-cheese cups, Poptarts, doughnuts, mimosas, fruit, strawberries with a chocolate fountain, and ice cream with Froot Loop and Fruity Pebbles as toppings!) It was a blast!

*Started summer program at my school...Crazy Hair Day was especially fun! Pajama Day is always popular too...and very very comfortable!

*Celebrated the downfall of Prop 8 and DOMA! There was a gathering at the courthouse where Craig and I got our marriage license, and there was lots of cheering and celebrating. There was even a wedding there on the spot, with two brides and lots of strawberry cake. Truly an amazing evening! I even got my picture on the OC Register website enjoying the cake!

*My poor cat Wednesday got carried off by a coyote, but Craig chased after it and saved her, and she wasn't even hurt! Craig is a superhero, and Wednesday might be invincible!

Here's to a beautiful summer filled with popsicles, beach days, sunscreen, freedom & equality, and small miracles ♥

Early Hours and Movies Movies Movies

Well hey! I was doing pretty good at updating regularly for a while there, but then they changed my schedule at work and my routine is all out of whack. Boo!

Let's see, what has happened with little ol' me?

Work: My current shift at work is from 6:45 to 3:45. Yeah I have to be there crazy early, but it's kind of amazing getting off work with a nice long evening ahead of me! Plus I'm able to get a lot of stuff done in the mornings, like that the snack art on the wall! Our whole classroom is carnival/circus themed, it's pretty cute!

Life: On the 13th Craig and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary! He makes me so so so happy...and he got me some pretty sweet presents too (he knows me so well)! More on my favorite present later!

Movies: Viva la cinema! I realize more and more every day how much movies mean to me. I've been watching lots of movies as always, including new-to-me films like Laura (1944), Trouble in Paradise (1932), Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), and That Thing You Do! (1996) as well as old favorites I've seen a billion times (Gidget Goes Hawaiian, anyone?). Trying to keep up writing for our film blog, but Craig's pretty much running the show over there. Some recent posts I'm proud of: Stand By Me, Listening to Jaws, Disney Tarts, 1920s Fever!, and A Movie Date to Remember. And in even FURTHER movie happenings, Craig and I are doing this fun 30 Day Movie Challenge on Instagram!

Whew! That's enough for now! We're going to try and attend a screening of E.T. tomorrow night, fingers crossed! Yay!

Fashion Inspiration: Emma Stone

Emma Stone's red carpet looks are hit-or-miss for me, but I absolutely love her in casual clothes! This is how I dress in my ideal universe, haha.

I want it all!

Helloooo June!

Craig and I rang in the first weekend in June pretty well, I'd say! On Saturday we went to the farmer's market and the Aquarium of the Pacific (where I took 900 photos that I still need to upload!). We visited our friend Julia that we hadn't seen in a long time and played with her two cats, and then had dinner with Craig's parents at Red Lobster. By the way, going to Red Lobster after spending all morning at an aquarium is kind of depressing. At least I don't eat seafood! Finished up that day seeing Craig's aunt and sister perform in a community choir, and then followed it with copious amounts of ice cream!

Sunday we went to a performance of The Intergalactic Nemesis in Costa Mesa. I didn't realize when I bought the tickets that it was aimed at children, but oh well. It was like a live radio drama, with three actors, on-stage sound effects, and a pianist providing the music. Pretty cute! We noshed on burritos at Craig's favorite little taqueria, went home and watched The 400 Blows (my first time seeing it...amazing!) and then at homemade pizzas at my mom's and watched Mad Men and Silver Linings Playbook. I haven't had such a fun weekend in a while...Craig doesn't usually get both days off with me so having him around was a treat!

Here's to summer getting ever closer, ice cream, movies, upcoming parties, cramming as much into a day as possible, and sun-kissed shoulders!
